Things That You Did Not Know About The Earth

Today is another fun facts day. Here are the top ten facts about Earth that you might not have known:

10) Asia is covers 30% of the total earth land area, but represents 60% of the world's population.

9) Only 3% of Earth's water is fresh, the rest is 97% salt. Of that 3%, over 2% is frozen in ice sheets and glaciers. This means less than 1% of fresh water is found in lakes, rivers and underground. 

8) The Persian Gulf is the warmest sea. In the summer, its temperature reaches 35.6 degrees centigrade.







7) Sunlight can penetrate clean ocean water to a depth of 240 feet.

6) On average 100 lightning strikes occur worldwide every second.
5) Each winter there are about 1 septillion (1, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000 or a trillion trillion) snow crystals that drop from the sky.
