The Nicholas County Football team brought home a victory Friday night against the South Floyd Raiders. The Jackets won the game 35-28. The Jackets made the 3 hour and 30 minute drive to southern Floyd County. Nicholas fell behind 8-0 early in the second quarter. On the next drive, the Jackets tied it back up at 8-8. Nicholas went into the half behind 20-15. The 'Jackets got the ball to start the second half. They marched right down the field and scored a TD. The extra point was no good. The score was now 21-20. The Jackets scored two more times to make the score 35-20.
The Raiders got the ball back with a chance to score twice with less than 5 minutes, set up by a fumble and a turnover on downs. The game ended with the Raiders having the ball on the Jackets' 25. The Raiders threw the ball to the endzone as the final seconds went out. Zach Howard knocked it down and the game was over.
The Jackets have advanced to play the Fairview Eagles Friday night at 7:30
